The horrific slaughter of the Saudi journalist-turned-exile Jamal Khashoggi by a group of assassins dispatched by Riyadh to Istanbul is a pointed reminder that Saudi Arabia is the original and unadulterated Islamic State. A despotic regime every bit the equal in cruelty and barbarism as its upstart challenger in Syria. From an exclusive by The Middle East Eye:
It took seven minutes for Jamal Khashoggi to die, a Turkish source who has listened in full to an audio recording of the Saudi journalist’s last moments told Middle East Eye.
Khashoggi was dragged from the consul-general’s office at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and onto the table of his study next door…
Horrendous screams were then heard by a witness downstairs, the source said.
The screaming stopped when Khashoggi – who was last seen entering the Saudi consulate on 2 October – was injected with an as yet unknown substance.
Salah Muhammad al-Tubaigy, who has been identified as the head of forensic evidence in the Saudi general security department, was one of the 15-member squad who arrived in Ankara earlier that day on a private jet.
Tubaigy began to cut Khashoggi’s body up on a table in the study while he was still alive, the Turkish source said.
As he started to dismember the body, Tubaigy put on earphones and listened to music. He advised other members of the squad to do the same.
This is the true face of the House of Saud, a dynasty and associated nation-sate that is rotten to the very core.

I dunno. I suppose it could be a tactic to sort of detach yourself from the violence you are committing. In that case it suggests that at one level these people know what they are doing is wrong, even if they may be in the process of trying to blot out any doubts or discomfort.
Or it could be a way of making it worse for the victim. I’ve heard of cases where people have been interrogated or tortured while their captors listened to music.

The more extreme muslims ban music, except for nasheeds (theological songs, which may be accompanied by percussion), so presumably al-Tubaigy was selective in his choice of records.
This account seems a little odd: why spend several minutes restraining and killing Khashoggi and cutting him up while he was alive, when a silenced gun or knife would stop him at once and enable dissection in peace? It’s pretty certain he was murdered, but I think this is the improved, exciting version, rather than what actually happened.

It’s possible that this was embellished. But it also eerily resembles the murder of Patrice Lumumba, so I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that it’s true. Especially if the one in charge had a strong sadistic streak.
Murders committed by the Medieval Executioners or Jim Crow era KKK, were often as sadistic as the description in the article or more so. I wouldn’t bet hard cash, on Kashoggi having had a quicker less brutal death than described.

To be clear here Wee Jim, it is within the realm of possibility that you are right about that-I don’t want to sound dismissive.
But until there’s more evidence to piece together, lets not dismiss any possibilities out of hand. And sadly, the level of cruelty described above, doesn’t sound implausible.
Nor do these fanatics always follow the official rules. There were several reports of 9/11 hijackers drinking alcohol and going to strip clubs. So rules about music may or may not be evidence.

God, the Turks and their various witnesses, recordings etc made a great job of pulling together all the threads of this incident. Sounds barbaric and “beyond the pale”. You’d gasp at their investigative skills that they worked out that he was butchered on the table and that it was no less than a creepy forensics man who did it. Elementary, my dear Erdogan, I’m sure their renowned intelligence service said, as they deplored the silencing of the brave journalist and cursed that they were too late to save him.
On the other hand, weren’t the Saudi assassins very cackhanded at their jobs. 15 of them and they couldn’t even keep him quiet.

Everything out of Turkey should be taken with a pinch of salt, since it’s filtered through a “democratic dictatorship”, one competing with its Saudi rivals for influence in the region. Consequently the Turks have considerable skin in this game. However the Middle East Eye has a fair reputation – though the Saudis might disagree – and the US has requested the audio from the Turks. So lets see what happens.

It seems clear the Saudis misstepped but this shock and false concern from Turkey would sicken a pig. This is the regime who have had no compunction imprisoning over 200 of their own journalists after all, not to speak of the intimidation and murder they routinely resort to.
What do they want from this? Are they trying to win back the Americans? Are they trying to undermine MBS’s changes/reforms? Is it revenge for what the Saudis stirred up in Syria? If I had a nuke, I’d be hard-pressed to choose which of these two odious regimes I’d throw it at.

The fact the Turkish government may be up to something, doesn’t prove that the accusations aren’t true.
As for “winning back the Americans”, I doubt anything is going to turn the Trump administration against Saudi Arabia. While US-Turkish relations have taken a dive thanks to Syria, they’ve been on the rocks since about 2003, when Turkey wouldn’t play ball for the Iraq War. And making Saudi Arabia look bad, doesn’t strike me as much of a tactic for bringing back Cold War era relations with the US-that just ain’t gonna happen.
Throwing a nuke at either country would likely start WWIII.

Much as I loathe to defend the Saudis in all this but one must treat with a heavy dose of sceptisim what the regularly lying West and its controlled media purports what has happened. This case bares all the similarities of the farcical skripal case I.e no evidence but alleged ‘victims’ and alleged ‘anonymous sources from Intelligence agencies’. Added to the fact that the Saudis have been for a long time carrying out dreadful atrocities on its people and also the folk of Bahrain and Yemen, and not a peep out of the West and its media, calls into question these new claims of Saudi brutality.
My guess is the Saudis are being squeezed for some unrevealed reason and this is an example of how their cozy set up can be threatened by the West if they don’t play ball I.e ‘regime change’.

Yes, exactly!!! He gets more attention than all the other people murdered or suppressed by the Saudi government precisely because he has a International profile.
Sadly the excuses for what happened to him are beginning to look weak. Got in a fist fight? I’ve never heard of anybody having a bone saw on hand for that….call me naive.
