The Guardian newspaper carries another article on the possibility of Catalonian independence as elections loom in the Iberian nation. However, as always, one should note with caution the intentions of the governing Convergència i Unió or CiU party which has traditionally favoured conservative regionalism over progressive nationalism. The Independent carries a good analysis of the possible motives of the CiU leader and Catalan premier Artur Más.
