Watch out, the Orange Order is about!
Yes that’s right, the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland has finally shown its hand in the lead up to the referendum on Scottish independence (after all that behind-the-doors shenanigans with low-level flunkies from the London parties). A brand new website is up and running under the banner, “British Together”:
“British Together is a campaign group set up by the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland to assist the mainstream Unionist groups leading up to and including the independence referendum in 2014.”
By “mainstream Unionist groups” one presumes they mean the Conservative, Lib-Dem and Labour parties. And not the, er, Bluenose variety. But there is more for the “British Together” website promises,
“A potted History of the greatest, political, economic and cultural union the world has ever witnessed.”
Sorry, just let me pick myself back off the floor and onto my chair. Phew. Okay, that’s better. Just recently the Orange Order announced that it had taken its message onto the streets of Scotland. One presumes they don’t mean the recent events in Edinburgh related here by the Scotsman newspaper:
“Royal Mile fight arrests after Loyalist march
Shocked onlookers have told of their horror after a violent mass brawl broke out on the Royal Mile in broad daylight.
The shocking incident, which occurred at around 4.30pm in an area usually popular with tourists and families, began in the High Street before it spilled into Niddry Street.
It is understood that police are linking the disturbance to a loyalist march which took place earlier.
Neill Brotherston, manager at Hector Russell Kiltmaker, described the incident as a “running pitched battle” between the two groups.
Staff who worked in nearby bars and shops on Saturday said that they noticed a marked difference in the type of customers in the area.
Erin Hennessey, a barmaid who was on duty at The Royal Mile pub when the brawl occurred, said: “Normally it’s mainly tourists in here, but you could say we had some interesting customers on Saturday. You might use the term rage.
“I came in at noon and they were already here, drinking from early on. They had kids with them but they kept refusing to order a meal which is against the licence.
“They were tough customers, a lot of them were interested in the Orange march.””
I bet they were.

Joe, I’m not even sure how to respond to that. A wee bit Dan Brown for me to be honest despite my familiarity with the history of British colonialism in Ireland where conspiracies of every size and variety seem to abound. I should also point out that I am something of a Zionist myself when it comes to the state of Israel, though perhaps in the old left wing sense of the word. Indeed, what were the Fenians but Irish Zionists? 😉
Not sure what the rather despicable Disraeli has to with the contemporary Orange Order or the Masons (the latter of whom are definitely on a downward slope since the heyday of the likes of the infamous Stalker Affair). As for Byron, I like him and his poetry.

Il y avait des liens entre les orangistes et le KKK. Ils s’échangeaient des listes de membres. Il y a aussi une grosse différence…. Le KKK a été déclaré illégal à l’USA, mais les Orangistes sont toujours actifs et légal au Canada.
Ils utilisent maintenant des noms plus acceptables, voir Northern Foundation, Heritage Front et Reform Party.
