Manga is usually translated as ‘whimsical drawings’ or something similar, and has been adopted into various languages either in its original form or adapted to local spelling or words with a similar meaning. Perhaps a word related to the Irish term mangairt ‘movement, activity’? Seems suitable for an artform which is defined by action and dynamism.
