What is manga in Irish? Manga is usually translated as ‘whimsical drawings’ or something similar, and has been adopted into various languages either in its original form or adapted to local spelling or words with a similar meaning. Perhaps a word related to the Irish term mangairt ‘movement, activity’? Seems suitable for an artform which is defined by action and dynamism.
