Following on from the shock decision by Foras na Gaeilge to terminate its contract for the publication of the weekly Irish-language newspaper Gaelscéal there comes an insightful piece by the Irish blogger Aonghus Ó hAlmhain. While acknowledging some of the criticisms of Gaelscéal he points out the challenges it faced and the potential it had to contribute towards the continuing development of Irish language journalism, for both creators and consumers. An area which has yet again been dealt a severe body-blow by the directionless policies of Foras na Gaeilge.
