While agreeing with the criticism expressed by many following the decision to cast Scarlett Johansson, a European-American actress, in the lead role for the live action version of the classic Japanese anime “Ghost in the Shell”, I must admit that I’m looking forward to the movie’s release early next year. While Johansson may not match the image of the character of “Major Kusanagi” so many of us grew up with, both in manga and cinematic form, at least she will bring some thespian credibility to the Hollywood production. The newly released trailer is looking good, capturing some of the aesthetic of the animated original, though the accompanying score is pretty dire. Fingers crossed that we don’t end up with another “Æon Flux”! 😉
I am not a fan of Ms Johansson.

Ah, she was ok in a couple of things. It could have been worse. It could have been Milla Jovovich!
