Possibly, but there’s far more at stake here. I can’t for example see the Irish falling over themselves to host the USA’a WMDs. It’s also interesting that the current SNP government has increased its popularity ratings during its time in power, something that’s practically unheard of. No to mention gaining a majority in the first place in a PR system that was carefully engineered to prevent such a thing. AS ran rings around Camaron and got the Edinburgh agreement, so hopefully they won’t send in the tanks or bomb the airports (as some English peers have threatened). But now, honestly he’s played his part. I didn’t hear anything new in his speech, prefered Margo’s speech actually.

I agree he was pro-EU but is now more cautious – pragmatic I would say. And all in the cause of Scottish independence.
The dealings with Murdoch and the odious Trump were very poor. No argument there.
But compare him to the alternatives. And if he succeeds…

There is still a rump of hibernophobic anti catholic opinion within the party e.g. christine grahame, mark hirst some have even supported the unionists within Northern Ireland if you don’t believe me check out the celtic forums. One leader willie wolfe had a very nasty anti catholic streak plus one slogan used to be ‘keep Scotland Protestant’
Hibernophobic anti catholicism isn’t limited to british nationalists within scotland…………

No disagreement there. I’ve outlined the SNP’s anti-Irish and anti-Catholic roots before (and some contemporary manifestations of it) but by and large Salmond and co. have managed to purify the party of the racist and sectarian strain.
