Fox News Republican Presidential Debate

The right-wing pundits of Fox News have staged their controversial debate between the top ten potential candidates for the conservative Republican Party in the upcoming presidential contest in the United States and it was a very American affair indeed. I don’t mean that in a derogatory way, simply that is was so American in tone and presentation, more like a televised, razzmatazz sporting fixture than a political contest. I’m sure US viewers would find Ireland’s more staid – if politically nitty-gritty – debates just as odd. General consensus seems split on who the winner was, if any, in the “top-tier” debate with the idiot savant of American politics, Donald Trump, emerging ahead of the pack on rhetoric alone (albeit of the barely coherent kind). Ironically the only woman candidate, Carly Fiorina, gave a better performance than anyone else taking part in the event – though confined to the proceeding outlier debate of no-hoper candidates.

Judge for yourself in the video above of the “top-tier” debate.
