The film critic and cultural commentator Lindsay Ellis has published a pretty good take on The Game of Thrones, HBO’s long-running fantasy drama, which ended last May amid a tsunami of complaints and criticism about its curtailed final season. Ellis’ video essay is less of a hot take than a cold take and all the better for it. While I don’t agree with all the points made by the YouTuber in general she has produced a fair assessment of where the television series went right, where it went wrong, and perhaps what the writers and makers should have done to satisfy the expectations of audiences and fans. And hey, the “Tricky Dicky” references are spot on!
