Boris Johnson, mayor of London and the great white whale of Tory politics, is well and truly harpooned by the BBC journalist Eddie Marr. Enjoyable for all sorts of reasons 😉
Great interview, Boris will never make PM but has star quality – upper class, bumbling, Woohousian. I used to think Cameron used him as a media Trojan Horse to test out right wing policies – but if that were true – he clealry has now broken free.
Boris and George Galloway are the 2 British politicans worth listrening to. Here’s George tearing into British foreign policy in the middle east and talking through his goal at Old Trafford. Absolute quality.
Agreed. Personally I find Gorgeous George’s judgement and motivations somewhat suspect but by God no one could take away from the man’s political oratory. His performance in the US Congress was simply legendary.
re. “Personally I find Gorgeous George’s judgement and motivations somewhat suspect ”
Politicians who get elected rarely (ever?) do so without somewhat suspect motivation. George at least appears to have some principles as well which gives him the upper hand on many of those he is arguing with who are trying to navigate their way based on expediency.
re. George in the Senate – have watched it through a few times. What is great is the way the yankees who appear to believe their own propaganda seem to completely underestimate him – apart from the Danny de Vito character towards the end who at least lands a few light blows.
Best parliamtentarian since Churchill in terms of spakes.
Perhaps, but in some ways Galloway reminds me of that wholly egotistic son of Bangor, Lembit Öpik, and his wandering of the highways and byways of Britain in search of parliamentary seat to contest. Not to mention a TV studio to preen his feathers in.
I suppose, of the two, Galloway is the more principled. But if your plane crashed on a desert island with no food who would you rather have as a fellow survivor? Gormless Öpik would be useless. But at least he wouldn’t try and eat you! 😉
